Today, you’ll arrive in Whitehorse, the northernmost city on Canada’s west coast, renowned for its stunning views of the northern lights! Take in the beauty of the Yukon River, which flows through the city. The river’s name is said to have come from the stirring waters that resemble the color of a white horse.
For guests arriving earlier, a city tour will kick off the adventure. You’ll visit the famous steamship Klondike, once part of the Klondike Gold Rush, and explore the breathtaking Yukon Valley. A stop at the Visitor Centre is also on the itinerary (please note it’s closed on winter weekends). Along the way, you’ll see iconic symbols of Whitehorse, including the Whitehorse Iron sculpture, the log church, and a unique log skyscraper. Don’t miss the chance to shop for special souvenirs like fur products, gold jewelry, and mammoth ivory items.
For those arriving later, the group will meet at the hotel lobby around 10:00 AM the next day to begin the city tour.
Around 10:00 PM, we’ll head out by vehicle to search for the Northern Lights. Departure times may vary with the season, and your guide will provide specific details. After experiencing the awe-inspiring lights, we’ll return to the hotel for a restful night, arriving in the early morning.

Whitehorse Aurora Viewing
The aurora, often regarded as one of nature’s most mesmerizing wonders, is a stunning display of colorful lights that illuminates the night sky. This breathtaking phenomenon occurs when charged particles from the sun (solar wind) collide with Earth’s magnetic field, primarily near the poles. The result is a dazzling light show that dances across the heavens.
The most common color of the aurora is a vibrant green, with multiple layers of this color overlapping and shifting, creating an ever-changing spectacle. For many, witnessing the aurora is a lifelong dream. For thousands of years, this radiant spectacle has sparked wonder and mystery, with people often attributing its sighting to good luck and happiness. It’s believed that seeing the aurora at least once in a lifetime is a truly magical experience.
