The Legendary Frozen Continent
Your journey begins in the romantic city of Buenos Aires, Argentina’s vibrant capital, before heading to Ushuaia, where your state-of-the-art hybrid cruise ship awaits. From there, you’ll sail across the famous Drake Passage and arrive at the pristine white wilderness of Antarctica. You’ll spend five incredible days exploring this icy frontier. While exact locations and timing depend on daily sea ice and weather conditions, you can be sure we’ll always take you to the best possible spots nature allows.
Antarctica’s landscape and wildlife shift with the seasons. In November, thousands of penguins are busy courting and nesting, while whales are still scarce. December and January bring the hatching of penguin eggs and more frequent whale sightings. By February and March, penguin chicks grow, and whale watching reaches its peak. No matter when you visit, expect captivating lectures, exciting landings, and scenic ice cruises as part of your expedition.

The Many Charms of the Falkland (Malvinas) Islands
The rolling green hills and white sandy beaches of the Falklands are stunning contrasts to the Antarctic ice. Here, you’ll explore the picturesque archipelago and may land to observe penguin colonies and seal habitats scattered across the islands. Falkland (Malvinas) Islands
Here, signs of civilization mingle with wild nature. In Stanley, the capital, you’ll find quintessential British life—red double-decker buses, historic pubs, colorful Victorian houses, and peaceful gardens. With a population representing France, Spain, and the UK, the town combines South American charm with British tradition. Walking the streets, you’ll discover wooden churches, war museums, and beautifully preserved architecture that tell the story of this fascinating island’s history and culture.

Wildlife Interaction

    Buenos Aires, Argentina

Buenos Aires, the vibrant capital of Argentina, is truly one of a kind. Ask any local, and they’ll tell you it’s the people who give this city its soul. As a historic port city, Buenos Aires is a cultural melting pot, shaped by immigrants from all over the world. Here, romantic melodies fill the air, tango dancers perform with passion in the streets, and Maradona remains a beloved icon. The city’s colonial-era architecture and rich Latin cuisine come together to create an unforgettable atmosphere.

You'll spend the night in a city hotel before catching an early flight the next morning. Depending on your arrival time, you may have a chance to explore Buenos Aires on your own. Be sure to visit the Teatro Colón, a magnificent opera house dating back to 1908. Then stop by the historic Café Tortoni for Parisian-style coffee and churros dipped in chocolate. For a more colorful experience, wander through Caminito, a lively open-air museum in the Boca district, where markets buzz and live tango and folk dance performances captivate diners at nearby restaurants. If you're up for a night out, the upscale Palermo district offers a lively mix of bars and late-night bowling clubs to keep the energy going.

    Across the Drake Passage

It takes about two days of sailing to reach Antarctica—an ideal amount of time, according to many seasoned travelers, to settle into life at sea and fully relax before the real adventure begins.

During this voyage, the expedition team will host a series of engaging and informative lectures at the onboard Science Centre. Each team member is an expert in their field and brings a wealth of knowledge, stories, and insights to share. You’ll learn about the unique wildlife of the region and how to interact responsibly with curious penguins or seals by following sustainable practices approved by the International Association of Antarctica Tour Operators (IAATO). The team will also guide you through essential protocols, such as the use of sterilized rubber boots for landings and the process of carefully cleaning clothing to prevent introducing foreign substances to the pristine Antarctic environment.

The cruise ship itself is designed for both comfort and adventure. Stay active in the gym or on the outdoor running track, and unwind afterward in the sauna or enjoy a relaxing massage at the onboard health spa. When it comes to dining, you'll have your choice of three restaurants, each offering distinct culinary experiences to suit your palate. In the evening, settle into the Explorer’s Lounge & Bar with a glass of wine or champagne and take in the views. Just because you're heading into the wilds of Antarctica doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice luxury—this is exploration at its finest.

    Explore the Antarctic Peninsula

Antarctica’s landscape is truly endless—a vast, breathtaking expanse sealed in pristine ice and snow. Towering tabular icebergs, formed from ancient glaciers, float like icy fortresses, their deep blue hues sculpted by wind and sun. This untouched wilderness feels like another planet, free from human impact and home to an incredible array of wildlife, including whales, penguins, and seals.

Just as the icy scenery shifts with the seasons, so does the region's wildlife. From October to January, whale sightings steadily increase, reaching their peak in February and March. This is when whale watching is at its finest, as large numbers of krill draw in a wide variety of whale species in a dramatic feeding frenzy. If you're visiting in November, you may witness thousands of penguins engaging in courtship and nest-building. By December, fluffy chicks begin to appear, while March brings adolescent penguins learning to swim and navigate their icy world. Bird lovers will also spot a variety of flying species throughout the summer months, including cormorants, skuas, and sheathbills.

You’ll have five unforgettable days to soak in the wonder of Antarctica’s wild beauty. Picture yourself standing ashore, staring out at snow-covered mountains, or drifting beside a curious Weddell seal as it pops up next to your small expedition boat. If weather and environmental conditions allow, optional adventures like kayaking, snowshoeing, or even camping on the ice may be available—offering once-in-a-lifetime memories. Each landing is carefully planned by our team to make the most of your time here, selecting the best possible sites along the Antarctic Peninsula and nearby islands. This is exploration at its most awe-inspiring.

Use this time to organize your stunning Antarctica photos, relive your favorite moments, and make sure there’s still space on your memory card for the adventures ahead. You can also take part in creative studio activities—sketch a penguin from memory, learn to tie intricate sailor knots, or simply relax and enjoy the final stretch of this unforgettable expedition.

    Drake Passage

At the Science Centre, the expedition team may host engaging talks to spark your curiosity as we approach the final leg of the journey to the Falkland Islands (Islas Malvinas). These lectures often explore the islands' complex and fascinating history, as well as the diverse bird species that inhabit their scenic coastlines.

Between sessions, you’ll have the opportunity to examine water samples under the Science Centre’s high-powered microscope. You’ll discover a hidden world of microscopic life—like krill and phytoplankton—which also play a key role in a citizen science project you can take part in. It’s a chance to deepen your understanding of the region’s ecosystem while contributing to ongoing scientific research.

    The Malvinas (Falkland) Islands

The expansive Falkland Islands (Islas Malvinas) are made up of two main islands—East and West Falkland—along with nearly 800 smaller surrounding islands.

As with our time in Antarctica, the next three days of exploration will be flexible, with daily landing sites chosen based on local weather and sea conditions. After the stark, icy beauty of Antarctica, the green rolling hills, colorful wildflowers, white-sand beaches, and clear turquoise waters of the Falklands may feel like a refreshing change. Still, some things will feel familiar—like the thousands of penguins that call these islands home! We’ll aim to visit penguin colonies, often shared with playful fur seal families. As always, we’ll observe from a respectful distance to protect the animals and their pristine habitat.

You’ll also begin to see signs of human life again. Scattered sheep farms dot the countryside, and in Stanley—the charming capital of East Falkland—you’ll find a slice of British life far from home, complete with red double-decker buses and traditional English pubs serving local ales. It’s a fascinating contrast of wild nature and small-town culture, all in one remote corner of the world.

Savor a delicious meal at the à la carte restaurant, indulge in a relaxing treatment at the wellness spa, or simply unwind on deck—watching the waves roll by as you reflect on the unforgettable moments of your voyage. It’s a perfect time to slow down, soak it all in, and say farewell to an extraordinary adventure.
