Itinerary

    Day

    Mount Rainier National Park

Mount Rainier, also known as Tacoma, is a prominent symbol of Washington's landscape. As the highest peak in both the Cascade Range and the state of Washington, it dominates the region. This active volcano boasts the most heavily glaciated summit in the United States, giving rise to five major rivers. Snow blankets the summit year-round, and when it melts, it feeds an abundance of waterfalls, expansive lakes, and dense green forests throughout Mount Rainier National Park.

    Summer (May to October) Itinerary:
Seattle → Mt. Rainier National Park → Longmire Museum → Christine Falls → Narada Falls → Paradise Visitor Center → Reflection Lake → Seattle

    Winter (November to April)Itinerary:
Seattle → Mt. Rainier National Park → Longmire Museum → Wonderland Trail → Seattle

Note:In the case of heavy snowfall during the winter season, the schedule of going uphill at Mount Rainier National Park may be halted. We will instead enjoy the breathtaking views at the foot of the mountain instead.

    ------------------------------

    Mt. Rainier National Park

Mount Rainier is encircled by the renowned Wonderland Trail and is blanketed by numerous glaciers and snowfields spanning approximately 35 square miles. Among them, Carbon Glacier holds the distinction of being the largest by volume in the contiguous United States, while Emmons Glacier is the largest in area. Each year, around 1.8 million people visit Mount Rainier National Park. The mountain is also a popular destination for mountaineering, with roughly 10,000 summit attempts annually—about half of which are successful. As the tallest volcano in the mainland United States and the fifth tallest peak in the entire U.S. territory, Mount Rainier remains snow-covered year-round. When the snow melts, it generates powerful runoff that nourishes lush forests and gives rise to stunning waterfalls and expansive lakes.

    ------------------------------
    Longmire Museum

Situated on the south side of Mount Rainier at an elevation of 2,700 feet, the Longmire Museum is part of the historic Longmire district. Originally serving as a ranger station, the building now features exhibits on the park’s natural and geological history, as well as its wildlife. This small museum provides a valuable overview of the region’s past, including the Longmire family and the Native American groups who once traveled through the area. Visitors can explore historic photographs and displays of local flora and fauna, making it a worthwhile stop for a brief visit.

    ------------------------------
    Narada Falls

Just 150 feet from the road to Paradise, Narada Falls is the largest waterfall in the park accessible by car—and one of the most striking. Here, the Paradise River cascades over the edge of a relatively recent andesite lava flow, which contrasts sharply with the much older surrounding rock formations.

    ------------------------------

    Paradise Visitor Center

Paradise is renowned for its breathtaking views and vibrant wildflower meadows. The name originated when Martha Longmire, daughter-in-law of James Longmire, exclaimed, "Oh, what a paradise!" upon seeing the area. The park’s main visitor facility, the Henry M. Jackson Memorial Visitor Center, is located in the upper parking lot. Paradise also serves as the park’s main winter destination, averaging an impressive 643 inches (53.6 feet or 16.3 meters) of snowfall each year.

    ------------------------------
    Or Wonderland Trail

The Wonderland Trail is a renowned hiking route that circles Washington’s iconic volcano, Mount Rainier. Each year, backpackers compete for limited permits to take on this challenging journey, with only a select few granted the opportunity to complete the demanding trek.
