Yellowknife is world-renowned as one of the top three destinations for aurora viewing. Thanks to its unique geographic location and ideal natural conditions, the northern lights can be seen here on roughly 240 nights each year.
When night falls, we’ll venture beyond the city’s light pollution to the Indian Hunting Tent Valley Camp. Here, you can warm up with complimentary hot drinks and snacks while enjoying the cozy atmosphere. You may also meet a local Indigenous hunter, who will share traditional hunting techniques and showcase some of the wildlife they’ve caught.
Once the aurora begins to dance across the sky, your guide will help you capture stunning photos, which will later be uploaded to the cloud for free download.
If strong winds or snowfall occur, our skilled driver will guide you to alternative locations—such as a lake or forest—where the aurora can still be viewed in all its beauty.

Other suggested activities (optional) in the morning:
The winter season usually from 11/28-04/11, and whether you can participate in self-funded activities depends on the snow amount.
——————————
Dog Sledding Adventure (optional)
Once a traditional mode of transportation for the Inuit, dog sledding has become an unforgettable winter experience. Today, you’ll have the chance to glide through a breathtaking expanse of snow, led by a spirited team of Alaskan Huskies.
Along the way, you can try unique seasonal activities—play a round of snow yo-yo, roast marshmallows over an open fire, or strike a fun pose in traditional snowshoes.
Please note: Each sled is pulled by 12–16 Alaskan Huskies, accommodating 2–4 guests, for an exciting 15-minute run along a scenic forest lake.
——————————
Ice Fishing Tour (optional)
Join us for a truly unique ice-fishing adventure! Discover how locals skillfully set nets beneath the frozen lake to catch fresh fish—just as they have for generations. You’ll see firsthand how the day’s catch is prepared, from cleaning to cooking, right on the spot.
Warm up with a steaming bowl of freshly made fish soup, perfectly paired with a traditional Indigenous pancake—a hearty treat to keep the cold at bay.
——————————
Yellowknife Snowmobile (optional)
There’s nothing quite as thrilling as riding a snowmobile across a sparkling winter landscape! Unlike motorcycles you see on the road, snowmobiles in Yellowknife are built without wheels—their wide tracks provide stability and smooth handling on snow and ice.
For your safety and comfort, you’ll be provided with a brand-new snowmobile, a heated helmet, and the guidance of a highly experienced professional. All you need to do is hold on tight and enjoy the ride!

As night falls, we’ll leave the hotel around 10:00 PM and head to the Tipi tent camp to witness the stunning aurora. Each night, you’ll have two opportunities to experience the camp and chase the northern lights. The aurora-chasing trips will take you to the forested areas near the lakes. For those who prefer not to chase the lights, you can stay at the camp and wait for the aurora to appear right there.
